Why does creativity matter?

During my time leading creative writing workshops in jails, prisons and psychiatric institutions the past nine years, I've witnessed the awesome, essential power of creativity and learned that everyone—yes, everyone—is creative.

Creativity is a catalyst for connection that sows silliness, vulnerability, authenticity and even change. Creativity allows our minds to break down road blocks, battle self-doubt, process grief, unlock potential, and make meaning not in spite of life's difficulties, but through dialoguing with the very triumphs and tragedies of the human condition.

Stepping into a creative lifestyle created space for me to move through my CPTSD diagnosis and all the self-destructive coping mechanisms that came with it. Through writing and the arts, I was able to finally face corrosive inner landscapes, rebuild, and find my community.

Creativity isn't about making pretty things, it's a way of being fully alive to your life.

What is Creative Coaching?

The short answer is that Creativity Coaches help folks develop their creative potential, overcome challenges, and achieve their creative goals.

The long answer is that I'd love to hear the story you're carrying, witness the art you'd like to make, and give you the structure and guidance you need to bring it into the world. Once I'm confident I have tools, connections, and insight valuable to you, we'll schedule sessions on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. I like to offer a free initial conversation, so that we can establish whether or not I'm a good fit for you organically.

This model allows me the flexibility to tailor my coaching practice to the needs, goals, and wildest dreamings of each of my clients. Whether you're hoping to bring a single writing or arts project into the world, work through a difficult time, find your creative niche, build a consistent creative practice, or revitalize your work, I'd love to help. My background in Grants Management, Event Planning and Development, and the arts and literary community in Montana, makes me uniquely qualified to not only help you make your best work, but to help you bring your work into the wider world.

What do my clients have to say?

“Taylor is a great writer and teacher. She is kind, intuitive and was so instrumental in helping me round a corner on grief after experiencing devastating loss. Taylor hung in with me during the dark and difficult process of getting a tough story out of my head and onto the pages and in the process I started to heal and we became friends. I am grateful for our friendship and all that she did for me. The work we did together coupled with Taylor’s listening skills, compassion, patience and guidance were very important and helpful in my recovery. “
